WHAT DID WE FACE???

As our group have 5 members, we had to do 5 different posters. To finish it fast, we separated the workload between ourselves and we had to do 1 poster each. When we gathered, we found out that we faced the same problem co-incidentally---we do not know how to make a poster! So, we discussed on how to do a poster as we took reference from other posters. We also discussed about who is better in which topic and separated the different topics among ourselves. Though we did 'double' the job of others, we also got 'double' the reward of others. We got to bond our relationship between ourselves as the number of times we meet and the most importantly, we learnt how to make a poster. On top of that, we also learnt more about the consequences of smoking as we came by with the information. Though, we might have wasted a bit of the time, we still managed to catch up and we think that it is worth it! ^^

We liked this part of the report as like we mentioned, it is so true and we encounter it every time we handle a project. We believe you who is reading our post believe this too. Why we liked this part a lot is also because we applied what we have learnt in our English class. This was a proverb taught by Ms Teo our English teacher. We remembered that moment when Ms Teo mentioned this proverb, we had the urge to use it already. To us, it is a simple yet meaningful proverb that we will remember forever.

A modern day invention---COMPUTER

The COMPUTER is the best helper to us as we do most of our work on the it. All our surveys, conclusions, pictures and information (from the internet) were done on computers. With the computer, we had saved lots of time and effort in perfecting our work. On computers, we can simply log on to the internet and search for the information and pictures required for our project work. With that, we can focus more on our surveys. The computer had really helped us and we really can't imagine what we'd do without it.

WORKING WITH A LIBRARIAN...

On this particular day, our project work teammates went to the Hougang National Library to look for some information for our project. We were looking for books that are relevant to SMOKING, but all our efforts were in vain. Having a hard time searching for them, we sought help from the librarian. They were very amiable and helpful. They tried their best to help us look for all the books about smoking and without much effort, we found all the books that we needed. We thanked them profusely and were very grateful for their help. Without their help, we may be still be in the library searching for books. It was like finding a needle in a haystack, but of course with the help of the librarians, it was much faster and easier.

PROJECT WORK CONCLUSION [final]

Most surveyors feel that by quitting smoking, their family relationships will improve. They also think that by quitting their smoking habit, they could help save money. We also found out that families think smoking means that someone is rebellious. Families who have smokers rarely go out together. They often quarrel too. Last but not least, families with smokers often lack communication.

From our surveys, our group members have learnt a lot. We want to warn teenagers to quite smoking as it is useless to cry over spilt milk when he learns that his family disowns him because of his healthy smoking habits or when he learns that he has contracted lung cancer. In conclusion...

PROJECT WORK CONCLUSION [part III]

Our second survey was conducted as we wanted to find out more about a smoker’s relationship between his money and family. We had to get accurate results and therefore, our group members went in to hunt for real teenage smokers. Fortunately, we managed to find enough people to complete our surveys.

We collated the surveys ant the results was satisfying. We managed to find out which cigarette’s brand teenagers usually purchase (e.g. Next and Marlboro). The prices ranged from $9.40 to $11.60, based on our survey results.

Normally, teenagers will use allowance given by parents to satisfy their smoking needs while others went out to work and use their salary to buy cigarettes. Some even borrow money from friends.

Based on survey’s result, our group feels that families should communicate with each other more often to understand each other more as teenagers who did our surveys state that smoking does not affect their family’s’ relationship because they are not close. How could they write these answers! Moreover, they have blood relationship. Basically, our group members were practically stunned by their answers. On the other hand, we still had good answers. Some smokers wrote that smoking affects family relationship as their family thinks that it is unhealthy while another’s family thinks that the smoke produced is smelly.
