PROJECT WORK CONCLUSION [part I]

Teenagers have the “In” thing going within them and that’s smoking! Our group knows that smoking is harmful to our health but do teenagers know? To find out the answer, we carried out surveys.

For the first survey, 30 teenagers were selected and they were to provide us with the answers we needed. With these answers, we also developed a deeper understanding of smoking in teenagers’ mind. From surveys results, we found out that family support is important to smoking addicts.

“Teenagers know the consequences of smoking but still smoke?” That was the puzzling thing that hit our group and has further motivated us to deter teens from smoking. Besides that, we also found out that teenagers are under peer pressure and that the factor that caused them to smoke. In addition, teenagers smoke because of family problems and stress from studies. With this information, we suggest that teachers and families should show more concern to their children and not push them too much. As we often say “haste makes waste”.

Non-smokers who did our first survey feel that teenagers smoke mainly because of peer pressure and curiosity. “Birds of a feather flock together”. Parents should make sure their child mix with the right group of friends. As we often say, “spare the rod and spoil the child”.

Surveyors also think that if they were smokers, curiosity will be the main reason that will lead them to smoking. Stress and being influenced are the other two factors.

Most surveyors also feel that their health might be at risk if they pick up smoking. They are right! Do not smoke or risk having bad health. Other surveyors feel that they will encounter family, money, and relationship problems.
